Should I Buy Foreign Frozen Yogurt Machines?

Posted on May 10, 2017

A Stoelting frozen yogurt machine versus a Chinese-made frozen yogurt machine.

Allow us to put in the simplest terms possible… No! You should not even consider buying a foreign made machine. They might be affordable ice cream machines initially, but they are expensive in the long run. We’ll explain why in this post.

“Name” Brand versus Chinese & Korean Made Machines

We did an investigation in which we compared prices & other important factors.

Some of the top brands in the USA like Taylor, Stoelting, & Electro Freeze have their frozen yogurt machines priced anywhere between $8,000 – $16,000.

Alpine (which sells Chinese made machines) has a price range of $4,000 – $8,400 for their frozen yogurt machines.

Chinese Made

  •  An important thing to keep in mind is that Chinese made machines break easily, so most of the parts that you would purchase would need to be from overseas.
  • Chinese machines are not NSF or UL certified which means they may not operate to standard & might be a safety hazard.
  • Chinese machines are advertised as low energy cost but that’s only because they’re using a smaller compressor which causes the machine to be overstressed & might even break down quickly

What Can You Do If You Have A Tight Budget?

We recommend you invest in a used machine. Used name brand machines are very reliable & in most cases have been used very little but because they have been around for a year or two, these machines lose about 30-50% of their initial value. The good thing about a used machine is that it doesn’t lose its value so quickly & it has the same premium quality function as a new brand name machine.
