Frozen Academy had the pleasure of interviewing Dinesh Tadepalli from Planeteer LLC . His company specializes in edible tableware that goes by the name incrEDIBLE Cutlery. In a mission to help reduce plastic waste, Tadepalli and his co-founder Sudheshna Vuppala decided to embark on the adventure of creating edible tableware for establishments.

Tadepalli’s manufacturer is Indian based company Trishula, it’s CEO Krvuil Patel is responsible for the production the spoons. Tadepelli and his partner Sudheshna are trying their best to spread the concept to the USA. They currently have sample orders being sent to New Zealand, Australia, and Germany, with Coldstone, Salt N’ Straw, Pinkberry, and Dippin’ Dots testing out their products. Tadepalli’s favorite products from the edible tableware line is the chocolate flavor when eating something sweet and the black pepper flavor when eating something savory. A product they anticipate for the future are edible coffee stirrers in flavors such as chocolate, cinnamon, and caradimin. 

A technological innovation Tadepalli has seen or would like to see is more observation of fast food and to-go options that are very cemented in our culture. It is important to find better ways to reduce waste. The food industry and the consumer can work together to help become more eco-conscious. In one day, we waste 9%-15%, depending on the product. This has a huge effect on the future of the planet and also affecting as many as 3 generations from now. By sacrificing a few minutes of comfort we can improve the planet and therefore the quality of life for everyone.
